Rev. Liefert began as our called minister August 1, 2011.
Rev. Liefert is a graduate of Starr King School for the Ministry in Berkeley, California. She served as chaplain of the First Unitarian Church of Oakland since May 2008.
Board of Trustees (BoT)
The Board of Trustees is responsible for the day-to-day operations of the congregation including the financial, administrative, property, and business affairs of the church. This is done through the committees, volunteers, and employees of the congregation.

Elected Committees
Committee on Ministries (CoM): Jennifer Buchmeier, Virginia Weigel, Carole Barton
Supports the overall and individual ministries of the congregation.
Leadership Development Committee: Sally Henry, Sara Suriani, Gary Cline
Identifies and recruits members for board and elected committees, maintains resources files for all volunteer positions, and provides other assistance to all committees.
Volunteer Committees
Administration - Chairperson needed
Includes the Facilities Group, which oversees physical meeting space, negotiates rental contracts, and builds and maintains equipment, and the Finance Group, which assists the treasurer.
Adult Religious Education - Rev. Laurel Liefert
Provides opportunities for members and the larger community to learn and stimulate spiritual growth based on the seven UU principles. Includes the Namaqua Forum.
Community Building - Chairperson needed
Is responsible for integrating members and friends into the NUUC community. This involves activities which sustain membership, the Crossings newsletter, Fun and Fellowship, circle suppers, men’s group, women’s group and other activities that enhance member interaction. This committee produces an annual directory of members and friends, and is responsible for the web site and marketing NUUC.
Pastoral Care Team - Sharon Thomas, Chair
Ministers to friends and members during times of crisis such as illness or hardship, sponsors the monthly caring column in the newsletter, and addresses members’ concerns. This team has also prepared an emergency response protocol and helps the minister assess needs.
Religious Exploration for Children and Youth - Erin Frisch, Chair
Supports and advises the religious education coordinator and the minister in implementing the religious education program at NUUC. The committee recruits and supports the mentors who lead classes for our children and youth on a rotating basis.
Social Action - Jennifer Kersten, Chair
Acts as a vehicle for change and educates the congregation about ways to make the world a better place. This committee also helps the congregation take actions that encourage social change. Among its sponsored activities are taking part in Peace in the Park and Mother’s Day Stand for Peace and a holiday mitten tree to help families without the resources to buy mittens and hats for winter. SAC adopts two Benson Park sculptures and a tenth of a mile of the Big Thompson River for cleanup. Oversees NUUC's involvement in the Interfaith Hospitality Network.
Stewardship - Steve Dornseif, Facilitator
NUUC has a new program -- FORTH (FORward THrough the Ages -- which is initiating year-round stewardship and spiritual generosity, joyful giving and generous receiving, supporting the mission of our congregation with time, talent, and treasure, given by members and friends throughout the year. This begins with the 2012 annual budget drive (ABD).
Welcome Committee - Pat McVey, Chair
Welcomes visitors, maintains an e-mail list for communication among the church community and welcomes and integrates new members, holding a new member ceremony sometime during the year and sponsoring Getting to Know UU and Path to Membership sessions. The Welcome Committee also oversees Sunday social hour following church.
Worship - Karen Dornseif, Chair
Works with the minister to help design and implement worship services, coordinates lay services and arranges for guest speakers. The committee also oversees production of the Sunday orders of service. Music is a subcommittee of the Worship Committee.
